I have been passionate about the fitness industry for as long as I can remember. As a young athlete, I learned early on about the dedication it took to have a lifestyle that included exercise and nutrition. I have carried my love for exercise into my adult life and enjoy bringing fitness and well-being into the lives of others. With over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry , I have worked with all types of fitness levels ranging from the hard-core athlete to pre and postnatal women, to the retired super senior. I bring creativity and functionality to each workout and hope to educate and inspire every person I train with. I am so inspired to mentor and be a part of the success that can be attained with a little commitment and determination. I look forward to working with the members of Tahoma Athletic Club.

My love of fitness began as a child, growing up with parents who were both college athletes. I saw them prioritize their health on a daily basis, especially my dad, who was a competitive power lifter and always made space for a wight room in our home. My experience with injuries as a runner and with weight gain through my pregnancies has taught me the importance of cross-training, weight lifting, and having a functional balance and core strength. I first began using my knowledge and experience to help others when i coached track-and-field for 4 years in Alabama. Soon after moving to Washington, i began teaching fitness classes. For the past 4+ years I have grown to love helping individuals from a variety of health backgrounds improve their fitness and well being. I am excited to continue my journey of learning, growing, and sharing at TAC as a personal trainer.

I am a returning native of the Pacific Northwest, I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science from Western Washington University where I competed in Track and Field and was one of the pioneers of collegiate women’s Pole-Vault. During school I interned in physical therapy clinics and also worked post-grad as a physical therapy aide, helping others rehab sports injuries, knee replacement surgeries, shoulder and neck pain from car accidents, etc. In 2002 I became a Certified Personal Trainer through the NASM and trained clients in downtown Seattle while continuing my studies in anatomy and physiology by attending massage school at night. I love combining massage and exercise to help clients reach their full potential in Sports, Rehab or just become more aware of the incredible bodies they live in. My training is personalized to the needs and goals of each client but always incorporates core stability, flexibility and functional strength while pushing cardiovascular thresholds. In addition to 15+ years of experience, I bring a passion for helping others live life to the fullest and a mission to prove to you how much fun hard work can be!

My name is Joshua “JJ” Johnson and I’m very passionate about helping others find happiness in life and feel good about themselves. I believe that when you FEEL GOOD, you excel in life. After college sports (WSU GO COUGS) I switched focus to bodybuilding and helping others achieve physical transformation. I have been blessed to train with IFBB pros and professional athletes at the highest level. For me, a healthy lifestyle is much more than just lifting weights. It’s about stretching, warming up, eating healthy, and getting necessary rest and enough sleep. I love helping others see and experience what their bodies are capable of with just enough hard work. I make it a goal to help you achieve a happy and well-balanced lifestyle that will minimize the risk of future health-related issues. I look forward to working with you at Tahoma Athletic Club.

I enjoy being outside; skiing and gardening and doing mind games and puzzles in front of a fire. Life is GOOD.

My passion for exercise and nutrition has been a part of my life for the past 30 years. I was a gymnast and loved to ski. We all know that exercise and nutrition continues to evolve and I am always excited to teach others how to keep up with the changing times. I have enjoyed teaching Power Pilates classes and weight training as well as sharing nutritional goals. I always incorporate balance, form, and strength into my training sessions. I enjoy teaching a variety of weight training techniques to HIIT workouts that can touch calories in just 30 minutes, so they are easy to fit into a busy schedule. I believe that movement and a healthy lifestyle is a necessary component of physical and mental health. My goal is to teach individuals to have that same passion for health and happiness that I do.
